Treemap Generator with AI Editing

A treemap packs a whole hierarchy into one rectangle: portfolios by position size, budgets by department, disk space by folder. MakeCharts generates the layout from your data and lets you recolor and regroup it by chatting.

How it works, step by step

  1. Provide categories and sizes

Import a CSV with category, optional subcategory and value columns, or type them in. The rectangles are packed automatically.

  2. Color it meaningfully

Ask the AI to color by group, or by performance with gains green and losses red, the classic market map look.

  3. Export at any size

Treemaps live or die by legible labels, so export SVG and scale it losslessly for dashboards, posters or reports.

Frequently asked questions

When should I use a treemap instead of a pie chart?

When you have many categories or two levels of hierarchy. Rectangles stay comparable where a 20-slice pie turns into confetti.

Can I nest categories inside groups?

Yes. Add a group column to your CSV and the treemap draws bordered groups with their items packed inside.

Can I color rectangles by a second metric?

Yes. Size can encode one metric and color another, for example market cap for size and daily change for the green-to-red color.

Does the treemap generator cost anything?

No. It starts free, with CSV import and watermark-free (paid plans) SVG and PNG export included.

Your data is ready. Your chart is three steps away.
